Solo

David Strbac has been an internationally active guitarist since 2016. As a soloist, he has won prizes at more than 20 international guitar competitions and completed his master's degree with honours at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2022.

Throughout his musical education, he was always mesmerized by the most demanding pieces of the classical guitar reperotire. They represented a personal challenge that he never fully allowed himself to take on in a concert context, for the fear of not being understood by the non-classical musician audiences.

His Solo repertoire is both a statement of belief in his capability to interpet this music clearly, and a statement of belief in the wider audiences’s capability to enjoy the part of the repertoire which some, mistakenly classify as too „Serious“.

Of Joys and Sorrows

After a challenging time in both of their personal lives, Serbian guitarist David Strbac and Romanian violinist Ana Molnar-Popa form a friendship and a mutual understanding of the world. This inspires them to create a music programme, which will reflect life´s ups and downs and allow them to explore common curiosity of world music.

The duo was formed in Vienna in 2023, with a project bearing the title ‘Of Joys and Sorrows’, inspired by Pablo Casal’s memoir.

It brings together the longing in Piazzolla’s Tangos and the vibrant collection of 7 Spanish folk songs composed by Manuel de Falla alongside other South American traditional pieces.

Cross Atlantic Trio

As its name suggests, the C.A.T. is composed of three young promising guitarists of European and American descent who’ve all converged on the city of Vienna.

David Strbac (SRB), Nejc Pirnat (SLO) and William Marcil-Bouchard’s (CAN) mission is to present the refined sensibility and accessibility of classical music to a wider, modern audience. The ensemble’s youthful energy and fresh innovative approach to repertoire brings new life to the concert stage. Their unique way of combining classical tradition with modern contrasting styles perfectly mirrors their complimentary musical abilities and personalities.

The three musicians favour pieces and arrangements with dynamic role changes, exhibiting each of their distinctive qualities.

Let yourself be carried away by the danzas of De Falla, the tangos of Albéniz and the sambas of Rio de Janeiro, and discover the hidden potential of the concert guitar.
